Meeting of the Government as of May 21, 2010

Meeting of the Government as of May 21, 2010 The meeting of the Government of Georgia was held in Ambrolauri on 21 May 2010. The agenda consisted of 6 items.

Before the beginning of the Meeting the Prime Minister talked about the projects implemented, being implemented and to be implemented in the region.
Here's the speech of Nika Ghilauri:

"We are having another field meeting. We try to maintain such tradition and today we are in Amrolauri. We'll talk about main problems in this region.
The main topic is the projects already implemented in Racha, the projects we are carrying out, and investment projects whereon we spend much funds. We'll discuss the problems existing at present, what has been done and what will be done till the end of the year and in the following year.
One of the main trends, the priority is the drinking water, road and energy projects. Gasification is one of the main issues to settle and in the energy field individual meters shall be installed in villages and regional centers.

During this year more than 56 million lari will be spent in this region. These are the funds to be consumed on investment projects. The largest amount of funds - 37 million lari will be spent on roads and more than 7 million lari will be spent on drinking water system rehabilitation. The rest of the sum is for schools, rural support programs, kindergartens and other small projects."The Prime Minister saw a new hospital under construction in Ambrolauri

The Prime Minister saw a new hospital under construction in Ambrolauri.

"As you see, a new hospital is being built. Construction work started several months ago under financing of the World Bank. We'll finish construction work in Amrolauri by the end of the year and equip the building by March of the following year. This will be a 25-bed hospital with a polyclinic and laboratory therein equipped with the latest technologies.
Local doctors will be also retrained so that they would be able to learn about new technologies. Accordingly, the following year we'll have a new hospital equipped with the latest technologies in Amrolauri region. This is one of the examples of the health reform we are implementing at present. Clinics will be built in every region of Georgia.

I was asked for several times: Haven't you wasted time? Nothing has come out of the 100 Hospital project. I repeat it once again, no time has been wasted. We've done a lot of new things; we've launched many new projects, made many innovations in the health field. For example, we've founded the institution of a village doctor. We started building of this hospital under that project. Accordingly, a new health program will serve the equipment of new hospitals with modern technologies in every region, which in certain cases will be in private ownership, and in some cases - in the state ownership. However, the quality will become much higher and be available for everybody."
