Competitive Selection for the vacant position of the Head of Anti-Corruption Bureau of Georgia will be announced tomorrow. Decision about it was made today at the meeting of the Competitive Selection Commission mandated to select the candidates for the referred vacant position. Meeting was held at the Government Administration and chaired by Revaz Javelidze, Head of Government Administration.
As Revaz Javelidze noted, Statutes of the Commission were also approved at the meeting held today.
"Statutes of the Commission indicate the list of documents to be submitted and procedure to be followed for the selection of candidates. Statutes of the Commission will be posted on the website of the Government Administration and all the candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will be able to submit their data and information through January 25, 2023. Applications are welcome from citizens of Georgia with clean criminal records, career track record of 5 years within the system of judiciary, human rights and law-enforcement, having a rather high reputation in public perception" noted Revaz Javelidze.
Competitive selection process was announced for the vacant position of the Anti-Corruption Bureau Head and Competitive Selection Commission was established in line with an Executive Order N289 signed by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia on December 22, 2022. Composition of the Competitive Selection Commission was defined in line with an Executive Order 304 issued on December 30, 2022.
Competitive Selection Commission comprises the following officials: Revaz Javelidze, Head of Government Administration; MP Mikheil Sarjveladze, Parliamentary Committee Chair for Human Rights and Civil Integration; MP Anri Okhanashvili, Parliamentary Committee Chair for Legal Affairs; Giorgi Mikautadze, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of Georgia; Bakur Abuladze, First Deputy Prosecutor General; Tamar Gvaramadze, Acting Public Defender (Ombudsman) of Georgia; Alexandre Kevkhishvili of the Transparency International - Georgia.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau of Georgia has been incorporated as a legal entity of public law (LEPL) on the grounds of the amendments made to the legislation of the country with a mandate of independent operation and accountability towards the Parliament of Georgia and Interagency Anti-Corruption Council.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau will be managed by its Head, who will be selected by a Competitive Selection Commission comprising the officials of public institutions and civil society on the grounds of a competitive selection from at least 2, but maximum 5 shortlisted candidates. Head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau will be appointed by the Prime Minister of Georgia for a tenure of 6 (six) years.
