Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, attended presentation dedicated to introduction of electronic ID cards at the Courtyard Marriott hotelOn May 4 of 2011 the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, attended presentation dedicated to introduction of electronic ID cards at the Courtyard Marriott hotel.

After the presentation, Nika Gilauri declared to media representatives that the public has got acquainted with much innovation during the past years.

"We have offered a lot of novelties to the public in different directions. Just take the Ministry of Justice, for example. The Public Registry and the Civil Registry are enough to tell where our country goes to and what our aim is - to simplify relations with the government for the population and private business. This is our aim and this has already been achieved. This is shown by different reforms such as tax reform, police reform, as well as the reform of the Ministry of Justice.

Introduction of electronic ID cards is one more step taken towards reforms in order to simplify life for our citizens and the private sector, as well as their relations with state authorities.

What is an electronic ID card? We have a number of cards in our pockets, such as pass, bank card, ID card. You will need neither of them. You will have just one card fulfilling the functions of all other cards at the same time. Frequently, it will not be necessary to go out in order to have relations with Public Registry, Civil Registry or Tax Department. You will be able to do everything without leaving home due to this electronic card," pointed out the Prime Minister.
