On October 29, 2011 the Prime Minister of Georgia met with teachers of public schools at Teacher's House. Nika Gilauri and Dimitri Shashkin introduced details of 10-Point Plan of Strategic Development of Georgia for Modernization and Employment to teachers.

"Bonus of GEL 75 is given to certified teachers; additional bonus of GEL 125 is given to teachers who have passed English language and computer exams, amounting to GEL 200 in total, while the salary of 25% of teachers having best points amounts to GEL 1,000.

If I had been told that there would be teachers having salary amounting to GEL 1,000 in Georgia six years ago, I would never believe this. Today, this is a real fact and we would like this to be spread.

Our aim is that teachers have not only prestigious job, but also respective salaries. It is very important that everyone knows Georgian language. For us, everyone who lives in Georgia is a citizen of Georgia. But in order that they were fully integrated in our society, it is necessary to them to know Georgian language. I pay much visits to regions and I see that population has desire to know Georgian...

I would like to add one more thing by all means, this is a technological university that we are establishing now and that is a new step. This university will become not only an educational regional but also a scientific center. The idea is to establish a university equipped with up-to-date technologies in Georgia, the main focus of which shall be on engineering disciplines, information technologies, and agricultural technologies. These three directions are chosen because today, investors and businessmen seek for these three directions in the world," pointed out Nika Gilauri at the meeting with teachers.
