Meeting with representatives of Insurance Companies and Regional HospitalsPrime Minister of Georgia Vano Merabishvili and Ministry of Labor, Health and social Affairs of Georgia Zurab Chiaberashvili met with top-management of insurance sector and regional hospitals. In scopes of the meeting Prime Minister asked if salaries of the medical staff employed in the newly opened hospitals in different regions of Georgia had been risen in parallel to significant rise of the applying of patients to the hospitals.

After the meeting, top-management of the Regional Hospitals declared that since September 1st, 2012 net salary of a hospital nurse in the regional hospital managed by them will reach 200 GEL. Salary will be raised by 20% for hospital nurses who had 200-350 GEL, and by 10% - who had 350-500 GEL before. Managers of Hospitals also announced that since August 1st, 2012, the whole medical staff working in their hospital network will have been insured.

According to the announcement of Prime Minister the work will be continued to make the rise of salary available for physicians as well as for the junior medical staff including that medical organizations which are not owned by insurance companies.

A significant rise of applying of patients to regional hospitals is stipulated for, from one side, improvement of medical service quality rendered by the newly opened hospitals, and from another side, by a sharp rise of the quantity of insured citizens in the country. Under today's condition, more than 900 thousand of citizens are insured by the Government - members of socially unprotected families, teachers, refugees, policemen and soldiers. In addition, 500 thousand of people use private insurance.

By September 1st, 2012, the Government is additionally going to insure pensioners of all ages, all children up to 5 years old, all students, all bodies with sharply expressed restricted capabilities and all children with restricted capabilities - in sum approximately 1 million people. By September 1st, total sum of insured people will reach 2.4 million citizens which may cause more rise of applying of patients to medical organizations.

The meeting was attended by the following insurance companies: "Aldagi-BCI", "Alfa", Archimedes Global Georgia", "GPI Holding", "IC Group" and "Irao", as well as clinics managed by regional hospitals being under their ownership: "Archimedes Clinic", "Med Alpha", "Medical Park - Georgia", "My Families' Clinic" and "Geo Hospital".
