The Prime Minister of Georgia, Vano Merabishvili, visited demonstration plots of lands of Didi Jikhaishi Village, Samtredia Region, covering the area of 20 hectares. When talking to the peasants working on site, Vano Merabishvili emphasized importance of opening agricultural production processing center near such plots of lands. According to the Prime Minister, about 500 agricultural enterprise of similar type will be established in the nearest future, in order to increase crop capacity even more, process surplus production and export after satisfying the local market. Vano Merabishvili expressed his regret towards the fact that the major part of agricultural products used in Georgia have still been imported.
At the demonstration plot of land of Didi Jikhaishi, agricultural works are carried out using up-to-date technologies and different kinds of vegetables are cultivated using modern technologies. The plot of land of 20 hectares is irrigated by means of drip irrigation system, supporting getting high quality and abundant harvest. More than 100 local people are employed on the plot of land, majority of which are internally displaced people and their average salary amounts to GEL 400.
