The Prime Minister visits Gurjaani wineryThe Prime Minister of Georgia, Vano Merabishviuli, visited Gurjaani winery and inspected preparation works for upcoming vintage. When talking to representatives of the winery, the Prime Minister pointed out that in spite of the fact that great part of grape harvest in Kakheti had been destroyed by natural disaster, the State should support delivery and processing of the rest of the harvest. Vano Merabishvili also talked to welder of rust-resisting metals participating in assembling of cisterns and emphasized that his profession is most in demand on Georgian employment market today. Up-to-date technologies at the winery give opportunity to sort grape and then use them for different purposes (high quality wine, concentrates, spirit), according to their degree.

Gurjaani winery, which is a state owned company, received 11,000 tons of grapes last year. This year, the winery has increased its capacities by cisterns with volume of 4,500 tons for wine keeping, including cisterns with volume of 3,000 tons of Italian origin. Apart from this, it has brought in 1,600 French oak barrels, which provide aging of wine in the best quality and arranged wine bottling line, which is able to produce 6,000 bottles in an hour. As a result, this year, Gurjaani winery is ready to receive 20,000 tons of grapes from Kahetian peasants.
