The Prime Minister inspects Larsi Customs CheckpointToday, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Vano Merabishvili, along with the Governor of Mstkheta-Mtianeti, Tsezar Chocheli, has visited Larsi Customs Checkpoint and got acquainted with operation of customs terminal. At present, construction of a new customs terminal is under way at the point, which will serve lorries.

According to Tsezar Chocheli, as a result of opening the checkpoint, number of visitors and volume of turnover have sharply increased between Georgia and Russia. According to his statement, in the nearest future, after Russia becomes a member of the World Trade Organization, Swiss observers will be placed at Larsi Customs Checkpoint, who will study, how Russia observes its commitment given to Georgia, in return for its becoming a member of the abovementioned organization.

When talking to the Governor and customs officers, Vano Merabishvili declared that in the nearest future, a construction of a new road of concrete cover will be started on Gudauri-Kobi section, which will be of the highest quality and it will not need to be repaired for several decades. According to the Prime Minister, construction of the abovementioned road will employ Kazbegi population, bringing additional income to them.
