Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili made a statement about special operations conducted in the last few days in Kakheti region on the Russia-Georgia border. According to the statement, made by the Prime Minister, the main phase of special operation is completed and the Georgian law enforcers were able successfully defend the state borders and to ensure the safety of its people.
Vano Merabishvili thanked all employees of the Ministry of Interior Affairs and the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, who participated in these special operations. He expressed his condolences for the death of two police officers and a medical officer and said that the State will continue to take care of the bereaved families.
In his speech the Prime Minister stressed that today Georgia is a State that can provide security and stability for its citizens, and that the country will never return to a time when it was unable to defend its principles - to enhance security and order in society.
