The Prime Minister holds meeting at the Ministry of HealthToday, The Prime Minister of Georgia, Vano Merabishvili, has held a special meeting with respect to taking effect of a new state insurance program from September 1, at the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs, which has been attended by representatives of insurance companies, leading clinics and the Ministry of Health.

At the meeting, the Prime Minister declared that as a result of taking effect of a new government program of providing available healthcare, from September 1, number of application to medical centers will rise sharply and clinics will be addressed by many of such people who have not visited doctors for 10-15 years due to having no affordance. According to Vano Merabishvili, clinics and insurance companies will meet the abovementioned challenge prepared and the Ministry of Health will support them everyway.

The Minister of Health Zurab Chiaberashvili, has informed the Prime Minister about the measures by which his administration helps clinics and insurance companies to cope with increased application. According to him, the Ministry of Health has trained 300 people, who will be assigned to all clinics and not only support managing queues, but also explain procedures of using policies to newly insured persons. Apart from this, during the last weeks, the Ministry has actively used media means to introduce operation of the policy to the population. As a result, according to Chiaberashvili, his administration is ready to cope with all problems which are likely to arise in healthcare system, after it gets a new flow of insured people from September 1.

From September 1, 2012, the state additionally insures all pensioners by age, all children including 5 years of age, all students, all persons of sharply expressed limited capabilities and all children of limited capabilities - up to million people in total. As a result, a total number of insured persons will amount to 2.4 million citizens from September 1, due to which a sharp growth of application of patients to medical institutions is expected.
