The Prime Minister visits Dusheti RegionThe Prime Minister of Georgia, Vano Merabishvili, visited Dusheti Region and inspected construction works of Aragvi Hydro Power Plant on the River Tetri Aragvi. Construction of the hydro power plant started in April of the current year and will be finished in January of the next year. When talking to representatives of the construction company, the Prime Minister emphasized importance of utilization of hydro resources existing in Georgia, under the background of stably increasing use of electricity. According to Vano Merabishvili, Georgia, which takes the second place in the world with volume of hydro resources per capita, has utilized only 20% of the abovementioned resources. To satisfy the increasing demand for electricity, construction of 17 hydro power plants is currently under way in the country and similar projects will continue in the future.

Established capacity of Aragvi Hydro Power Plant amounts to 8 megawatt, and it generates 50 million kilowatt/hour annually. Investment value of the project amounts to USD 11 million. 122 persons are employed on construction of the hydro power plant.

The Prime Minister visits Dusheti RegionLater, the Prime Minister visited Aragvi Family Hotel located at Nagvarevi Village between Gudauri and Pasanauri, and talked to its owner. Vano Merabishvili introduces a new government initiative to the hotel owner, according to which particular attention will be paid to advertising small hotels, as hotels frequently have no funds to cover such expenses. For this purpose, in the nearest future, a special webpage will be designed, which will include small family hotels like Aragvi Hotel, along with big hotels, which will enable tourists to book suites in advance by internet.

The Prime Minister emphasized sharp growth of number of tourists and flow of passengers at Dusheti and Kazbegi Regions, as a result of cancellation visa regime for Russian citizens by Georgia. According to him, after rehabilitation of Kobi-Gudauri road, on which construction of concert cover will be finished in April of the next year, number of tourists will be increased even more at the abovementioned regions, which will create additional jobs for local population bringing additional incomes to them.

The Prime Minister visits Dusheti RegionLater, Vano Merabishvili visited the village Bedoni in Dusheti Region, where rehabilitation of gas pipeline has been completed and the village will receive natural gas at the end of the week. In the near future will be completed rehabilitation of gas pipeline near village Bedoni in Mleta, Arakhveti, Kvesheti and Hada gorge, resulting in that a total of 270 subscribers in five villages will receive natural gas. After Bedoni, Prime Minister talked to local people in village Kvesheti and inspected the works on exterior lighting installation on the main highway.
