To International Conference of Saint Martyr Archimandrite Grigol Peradze

Let me express my sincere Greetings to the participants of the XI International annual conference of Caucasian studies of Saint Martyr Grigol Peradze, taking place on December 6-8, in memory of the Georgian Priest who died in Auschwitz concentration camp. Moreover, we highly appreciate that over the years organization of this conference, which gathers prominent public figures and scientists, has been established as a tradition.

Grigol Peradze's personal sacrifice made it possible to preserve enormous amount of old Georgian manuscripts. He dedicated his entire life and resources to seek, and research this invaluable treasure. His canonization by the Polish and Georgian Orthodox Churches turned his person into a symbol of the relations between two nations.

During the past years, the University of Warsaw served as an intellectual asylum for number of Georgian students seeking to improve their knowledge and qualification. We are glad to witness the continuity of this tradition. We are proud that those Georgian Professors who are working in the University of Warsaw are contributing to deepening relationships between our countries.

Today, the friendship between Georgian and Polish students has a particular significance, since they represent the future leaders of political and intellectual elite of Europe.
Let me welcome the participants of the Conference, and express the hope that this year's forum will generate new, positive ideas and initiatives.

Respectfully,

Prime Minister of Georgia
Bidzina Ivanishvili
