Today Irakli Garibashvili visited the village of Zikilia, Akhaltsikhe Municipality, where he led the official opening ceremony of the 400 kilowatt power transmission line to Turkey and of the Akhaltsikhe substation. This substation is part of the Black Sea power transmission network project implemented by Georgian State Electrosystem JSC and its affiliate company Energotrans. As Prime Minister pointed out in his speech, the implementation of this project is important not only to Georgia but to the whole region as well. "We will be able to export excess electric power to Turkey in summer. In addition, the amount of electric power lost in transmission will decrease substantially. The introduction of modern technology will enable Georgia's electrical grid to carry out export and import of electric power and its transmission to Turkey and other European countries in compliance with international standards," Prime Minister said.
