Irakli Garibashvili was elected Cochairman of the Organizing Committee for the Twenty-Sixth century Anniversary of Friendship between the Georgians and the Jews. This decision was made at the December 12 meeting of the Organizing Committee for the Twenty-Sixth Anniversary of Friendship between the Georgians and the Jews held at the Chancellery of the Government of Georgia. As for Bidzina Ivanishvili, he will remain an honorary member of tis committee. The members of the committee discussed events planned as part of the anniversary celebration in 2014. Besides various cultural and sports events, the anniversary celebration events also include the opening of the National History of Jewish History. Business forums with the participation of Georgian and Israeli business circles will be organized as well. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Sports, and Ministry for Diaspora Issues are engaged in the process of preparation for these events.
