2015-12-06

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili congratulated the Jewish people on Hanukkah at the Tbilisi Great Synagogue. The Prime Minister lit the first candle and delivered a speech highlighting the shared values and historic friendship between the Georgians and Jews.

"It is important for Georgians and Jews to have permanent relations based on brotherhood and love. Today is the day of light prevailing over darkness and good defeating evil. I would like to wish you peace. We live in a very difficult time, so we need to be patient and reasonable. I wish the Jewish people a strong and peaceful life together with Georgians. Let the candle lit today be a symbol of a better future," said Prime Minister Garibashvili at the Synagogue.
Ambassador of Israel to Georgia Yuval Fuchs, Tbilisi Mayor David Narmania and the Head of State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze also attended the event.
