2015-12-19

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili lit the main Christmas tree on Rustaveli Avenue and congratulated the Georgian people on the upcoming Christmas and New Year's holidays.

"I want to wish peace, love and prosperity to you all, your families and your children. I know that there are many problems in the country. Therefore, we need to work 24 hours a day. I believe in a better future. If we stand and work hard together, we will make our country stronger and create a united and strong state," said Prime Minister Garibashvili at the tree lighting ceremony.

He also responded to the recent final report published by the European Commission, calling it a historic achievement.

"I want to congratulate you all with yesterday's event. I think a new stage has truly begun in the history of our country. Yesterday, the European Union recognized our status as a modern, strong and European-style country, whose citizens also deserve visa-free travel to the EU. This is a recognition of our people, our nation and our state. Therefore, I would like to congratulate you all," said Prime Minister Garibashvili.

The Prime Minister was joined at the ceremony by his family.
