Prime Minister of Georgia Meets with New EU Leadership Print Version

On February 26, the Prime Minister of Georgia visited Brussels where he met with new leaders of the European Union.
Within the framework of the visit, meetings were held with President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Junker and President of the European Council Donald Tusk, followed by joint statements. The President of the European Council assessed Georgia as an Eastern Partnership forerunner and emphasized that it was not a mere compliment, but a fact. The EU leaders expressed hope that, at the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga, Georgia will emerge as a success story of visa liberalization.
The Prime Minister of Georgia was also hosted by High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, and meetings were held with President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok, and Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Chiril Gaburici.
Besides Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, the Georgian delegation consisted of Minister of Foreign Affairs Tamar Beruchashvili and State Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Davit Bakradze.
