Georgian Prime Minister held a meeting today with members of the European Parliament's delegation visiting Tbilisi to participate in the Third Meeting of the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee. The parties discussed issues under Georgia's EU Association Agenda and the upcoming Action Plan. In this context, the role and functions of the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee were underlined.

It was pointed out during the meeting that the first visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia after the parliamentary elections was held in Brussels, confirming the commitment of the Georgian Government to the country's European aspirations.

Special attention was paid to the progress achieved in relation to the suspension mechanism, and the parties expressed hope for the uninterrupted continuation and successful finalization of the further legislative procedures in the nearest future in relation to visa liberalization for Georgia.

The MEPs emphasized Georgia's role as the torchbearer among the Eastern Partnership states in terms of democratic reforms, transparency, accountability, and civic engagement.

The Prime Minister of Georgia thanked the MEPs for the European Parliament's supportive resolutions and support for Georgia.

The EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee, along with the Association Council and Association Committees operating at the executive level, is one of the tools within the institutional framework established under the Association Agreement for EU-Georgia cooperation. The European Parliament Delegation is led by Sajjad Krim, a British member of the European Conservatives.
