Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili held a meeting today with the EU's Charge d'Affaires ad Interim. Carlo Natale, on behalf of the European Union, promised the Prime Minister support to the Georgian people and Government and expressed readiness to provide assistance in a variety of directions.
"We are impressed by Georgia's efforts in eliminating the recent natural disaster," Carlo Natale emphasized. For his part, Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked the EU Representative for his readiness to assist Georgia. Information about the wildfire in the Borjomi Gorge was provided by the Georgian Government to the EU Crisis Management Center immediately after the emergence of the disaster. In response, the EU put into operation its Copernicus Program employed in Europe to tackle massive wildfires and to carry out satellite observation of disaster areas.
