Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili held a meeting today with Chair of Turkmenistan's Mejlis Assembly Akja Nuberdiyeva.

The discussion involved bilateral relations in different areas and cooperation between the two countries' legislative bodies.

Special emphasis was placed on the friendly relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan. The Prime Minister hopes that the recent exchange of high-level visits will promote the development of bilateral ties.

"I am convinced that this day will boost anew the further development of our relations. We are thankful to Turkmenistan for its stance in international formats. For our part, we consistently support your initiatives. The inter-parliamentary format, cooperation between the representatives elected by the people, is yet another demonstration of the special bilateral relations between our nations. We reaffirm our commitment to developing our international relations with your country, our friend," the Prime Minister stated.

The Chair of Turkmenistan's Mejlis Assembly thanked the Prime Minister for his visit, also expressing hope that the meetings will spur both the bilateral relations and the further development of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

The enhanced-format meeting was attended by members of the two countries' Cabinets.
