Firstly, at this time of distress, I extend my deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of the victims. This tragedy tears at the hearts of us all. At this point, the fire has been extinguished, and the injured have been hospitalized. Their lives are no longer in danger. The rescuers and firefighters have, in the most difficult circumstances, saved over a hundred lives. I am thankful to all of them for their selfless service. An investigation has been launched into this incident. All relevant agencies are mobilized to identify the reasons of the fire, which will be followed by a severe response, and everyone responsible for this tragedy will be punished. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of the victims.

The Prime Minister of Georgia visited the Leogrand Hotel in Batumi to hear from Head of Adjara Patrol Police Levan Maisuradze a detailed report on the firefighting and rescue operations.The Prime Minister's airplane, initially flying from Brussels to Tbilisi, changed its course and landed at the Batumi International Airport because of the recent tragedy at the Leogrand Hotel.
