Tbilisi State University has always carried a much larger value and significance than that of just an educational hub - it has always been a cultural centre and the pillar of our statehood during the difficult years when we were questioning our statehood, - the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili made respective statement at the ceremony of establishment of the Society of Georgian Universities - the event that gives start to the activities in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

The Prime Minister noted that much like 100 years ago, when the idea of founding the University was created and unilaterally supported by the Society of Georgian university, renewing of this idea today and foundation of a relevant Society will provide basis for developing a greater vision.

"I truly hope that this will be the case. It is a great honor for me to guide the State Jubilee Commission, which will provide relevant conditions for holding these events. These events will take place not only in our country but also abroad. Today we are all proud to be at the University that has raised many people who have brought our country to this day and each of whom we are proud of. Today we are founding an endeavour that, I am convinced, will raise many more great patriots throughout the next 100 years," - Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated.

The Prime Minister also talked about the decision of the state, according to which the cultural heritage monument, the second building of the TSU will be restored; The rehabilitation works will be carried out at the Tbilisi State University Rafael Agladze Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and Electrochemistry and the International School of Economics (ISET).

"I think this will be another step towards creating our future. I am convinced that all important sectors will be maintained at our University; the basis for the development of fundamental sciences will be further strengthened, but there will be a lot of new directions. The university has always been a source of progress and if there ever was a source of novelty, it was always the Tbilisi State University. I congratulate you on this day and on the outset of this very important anniversary events", - the Prime Minister of Georgia noted.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili also signed the document on "Georgian University Society". Society that is entrusted with development of the University brings together the alumni of s Tbilisi State University and its supporters, and it is led by well-known scientist Zaal Kokaia. Giorgi Kvirikashvili is a member of the board "Society of Georgian University".
