An independent investigative mechanism to be created in the country
"An independent investigative mechanism is about to be created to probe into possible offenses, inadequate treatment, and abuse committed by law enforcements.
Importantly, the project ensures the agency's total independence, and its hierarchical independence will be guaranteed by the Parliament. We are also considering the establishment of the State Inspector's Service based on the fundamental principles found and tried in leading democracies," Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated at today's Government meeting.

According to him, it is part of the obligations assumed under the EU Association Agreement. The Prime Minister lauded this initiative by the Justice Ministry as important.
"It is vitally important to promote public trust in our law enforcements. As you know, crucial reforms in this regard are underway at the Interior Ministry. Equally important reforms have been completed by the Chief Prosecutor's Office. As you know, the third wave of reforms is in full swing, and I believe that this new mechanism will serve as yet another complementary component to boost public trust in the law enforcements, on one hand, and imbuing our law enforcements, on the other, with a sense of objectivity in terms of incentives awarded to proper lawful actions. Of course, this mechanism will also probe into possible abuse," the Prime Minister stated.
According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the new independent investigative mechanism will be established shortly.
