"Development of life in mountains has a special importance for us, as strong mountain equals strong Georgia and Mountainous Adjara has a unique and special role in our strategy" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia when addressing the population gathered in Beshumi to congratulate the Shuamta 2018 Day.
Prime Minister of Georgia noted that it was a celebration of unity, love, common spirit, harmony between lowlands and highlands and particularly thanked the elderly for preserving the tradition of celebration.
"Mountain has a special importance and we implement a number of projects in term of infrastructure, water supply, local road rehabilitation and other, though this far from being sufficient. We need projects that will enable us turn Adjara into a four season recreation destination. We will do our best to achieve this goal. And now, at last we have reached a very important milestone to launch a significant project implementation. I am referring to Khulo-Zarzma Project, which has a tremendous importance for the development of our beautiful, mountainous Adjara. Nevertheless, this will not be sufficient either. It is essential to implement all those projects that will enable us to turn Adjara Highlands into a crown jewel of tourism potential of Georgia" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Head of the Government of Georgia also spoke about the faults in the power and water supply infrastructure projects and stressed the need of realizing the true potential of the youth living in the highlands of the country.
"In this regard, I need to mention the Mountainous Adjara. Our sportsmen have unique achievements. Majority of our athletes are from here. I need to particularly single out our wrestlers. Hence, we have taken a decision and will be implementing a very interesting project towards this end also. As for Beshumi Recreation Area, it has no master plan of development in contrast with Goderzi Recreation Area. This is a deficiency and it will be addressed in the nearest future. Once again, let me congratulate you with this special day and wish you great success" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Head of the Government of Georgia congratulated Shuamta 2018 Day to a newly-wed couple and presented a memorable gift to them.
Prime Minister of Georgia also attended a sports tournament related to the Shuamta Day in Beshumi.
