Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia met with representatives of Forschungszentrum Julich in Tbilisi, during their 8th German-Georgian Seminar within the scope of a German-Georgian Scientific Bridge (GGSB).

Meeting was focused on the new reform in the education system and special importance was noted within its implementation. Prime Minister shared plans of the Government of Georgia to visiting German scientists towards advancing the education and science in the country. It was noted that education is a key strategic priority of the Government of Georgia. In addition, parties spoke about the engagement of professors in the process of the reform and opportunities of sharing experience with Georgian counterparts. Scientists noted that Julich Research Centre will play an active role in the development of education and science in Georgia.

Besides, discussions were focused on the projects implemented by the Julich Research Centre in Georgia. Neuroscience and Medicine Lab will be established in the nearest future within the scope of cooperation between the Julich Research Centre and Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Also within the referred collaboration, Georgian students will be able to visit Julich Research Centre and get exposed to fundamental sciences.

Forschungszentrum Julich has been operating in Georgia since 2004. There are already two labs in Georgia operating similar to those of the Julich Research Centre, enabling the Georgian youth to carry out scientific projects as implemented at the Forschungszentrum Julich.
