Reforms planned by the Government of Georgia in the education system of the country, successful projects implemented by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) within the 140 MLN USD Compact and future cooperation were among the topics discussed today by and between Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia and Cynthia Huger, Vice President of the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

Vice President of MCC, who is visiting Georgia for the first time within this capacity, noted that the country is among the best partners of MCC and it is gratifying that the allocated funding is spend as targeted for the implementation of education projects.

Attention was paid to the need to further deepen the relationship and potential of the country to shape into a regional leader in education.

Prime Minister of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the MCC for the substantial educational project implementation, leading to the acquisition of significant knowledge and experience by Georgian youth. Head of the Government of Georgia also noted that MCC Compact is the largest investment of USA - strategic partner of Georgia - made in the advancement of the education system of the country.

Successful cooperation with Millennium Challenge Fund - Georgia has been stressed at the meeting. It was noted that high level delegation of MCC is scheduled to visit Georgia in September, which will facilitate further development of the partnership.

Millennium Challenge Fund - Georgia is implementing general, vocational and higher education projects within the scope of a 140 MLN USD worth of MCC Compact to facilitate the human capacity building in engineering, technologies and natural sciences. Public school buildings are being fully rehabilitated in the regions of the country within the scope of the Compact.

Professional development programs are also implemented for teachers. New vocational education programs have been launched and San Diego State University now has its footage in Georgia, which offers US accredited Bachelors Degree education to students in Georgia, ultimately leading to the human capacity building in priority areas of the economy.
