Meeting between the Prime Minister of Georgia and Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany was followed with negotiations in the extended format with the engagement of government officials of both countries.
Discussions were predominantly related to the cooperation between Georgia and Germany in bilateral and multilateral formats in the following areas: economy, progress achieved by Georgia towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration, significant contribution of Georgia in ensuring the global security.
Particularly noteworthy were the Georgian milestones in the cooperation with EU and effective implementation of the Association Agreement. Prime Minister of Georgia stated that European path is a choice made by Georgian people and Government remains committed to this aim. Head of the Government of Georgia noted visa-free travel of our citizens to the Schengen zone of the European Union as the most significant achievement on our quest to the EU integration.
It was mentioned that Government of Georgia welcomes the investments made by German companies in our country. Prime Minister of Georgia is confident that further advancement of bilateral economic relations will be facilitated by the current visit of the business delegation accompanying the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany to Tbilisi.
Attention has been paid to the initiatives of the Government of Georgia aimed at the facilitation of small and medium enterprises (SME).
Parties spoke about the existing and active cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture. It was noted that Georgia regards its participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair with a status of a Guest of Honor in 2018 as a most important endeavor. Hosts expressed gratitude to the visiting delegation for financial support of education projects, which are targeted at increasing the knowledge and competences of Georgian students and scientists. It was noted that special friendly relations between the two countries are evidenced by celebrating a German-Georgian Year in 2018.
