"Pshav-Khevsureti and Gudamakari will get internet access, while over 100 villages will get power supply" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at a press briefing held prior to the Executive Government Meeting today.

As noted by the Head of the Government of Georgia, decision was made by the National Council for Development of Highlands of Georgia last week.

According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, internet penetration in Pshav-Khevsureti and Gudamakari valleys will incentivize a better absorption of tourism potential in the region.

"National Council for Development of Highlands of Georgia made a vital decision last week and namely Government of Georgia has initiated internet access to be provided to Pshav-Khevsureti and Gudamakari Valleys. We have achieved a very good progress in the development of tourism in the country and internet penetration will further incentivize a better absorption of tourism potential in the region. I am confident that internet coverage in Pshav-Khevsureti and Gudamakari will serve as a substantial breakthrough in the livelihood of local population and will give a new gear and momentum to the region" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of the Government of Georgia, another key initiative is to train the locals in providing the first aid in high terrain regions.

"It will enable the local population to provide the first aid prior to the arrival of the emergency rescue brigades. You may well be aware that it has remained as a pressing problem so far and timely provision of medical services was indeed an issue. When the program gets implemented, first aid will no longer be a problem and this service will be accessible to local population and tourists as well" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of the Government of Georgia, another most important decision is to provide power supply to over 100 villages currently kept without electricity.

As announced by the Prime Minister of Georgia, solar panels will be installed in over 100 villages with a joint funding from the State Budget of Georgia and United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Thus, over 400 households - currently kept without electricity - will get power supply.
