"Human capital development is a key priority of our Government" noted Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia during his meeting with members of the Business Association of Georgia (BAG) today.

As noted by the Head of the Government of Georgia, Ministry of Education is closely linked with economic development of the country and specific economic indicators have been earmarked by the Government of Georgia (GOG) in introducing the reform.

"We are seriously lagging behind in the education system and therefore human capital development is a key priority of our Government. We aim to increase the Human Capital Index by 20-25 percent in Georgia as a result of the this reform. At the same time, our specific economic targets have been incorporated in the introduction of the reform. One of the key criteria is to enable the education system have at least a double-digit contribution in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country, i.e. we are talking about a share of 10-11 percent and vocational education will by all means have a considerably role in this" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of the Government of Georgia, work is in progress on significant initiative to co-finance the vocational education.

"We are working on a significant initiative, which will be presented next year and according to which a new component will be added to our investment climate. It refers to proposal that we plan to make to investors for co-financing the vocational education to let them gain access to more qualified labor force" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
