"Children aged below 16 from socially vulnerable households will receive allowances with a five-fold increase and instead of current 10 GEL families will get 50 GEL per child" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at the press briefing held prior to the Executive Government Meeting today.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, referred initiative will apply to almost 140 000 children in the country.

"We had a discussion on this topic in spring, when UNICEF study was released along with specific recommendations conveyed in the published report. Key priority of our political team has always been and remains to be an individual as a main value. In the conditions of our governance, we carried out truly vital adjustments in the social policy of the country, including the healthcare of our citizens. I wish to single out the Universal Healthcare Program and Insurance System of Georgia here, however as for the social security policy, we did note earlier that significant changes were underway" stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, sadly many children in the country still require special support and attention from the State.

"We are fully aware of this responsibility and focus on the need to change the system of social protection of children in the country. On the grounds of UNICEF recommendations we developed a new system. Hence, it will be captured in the budget of the next year" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

As noted by the Head of Government of Georgia, work is actively pursued towards this end and authorities do their best to make such children most protected in the country to let them enjoy the equal opportunities of development and decent future.

"Referred initiative has been cleared with the International Monetary Fund. You may well be aware that several days ago we successfully concluded negotiations at yet another level within the scope of our program. Therefore, it will become part of our budget and I am convinced that our colleagues at the Parliament of Georgia will support this initiative. We conceptualize that it is not sufficient to make fundamental changes in the economy solely with social allowances. Our key priority is to achieve an inclusive growth in the country. I am referring to such economic growth and advancement that will be felt by each citizen. We have actually agreed on the main adjustments that we intend for improving our social policy and these initiatives will be soon shared with the Georgian society" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
