2019-02-13

So-called street gang disputes will be liable to criminal prosecution. The relevant legislative package was discussed at today's Government meeting.

As Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated at the briefing before today's Government meeting, the Government continues its fight against crime and criminal mentality, with so-called street gang disputes and arbitration as one of its serious aspects.

According to the Head of Government, the frequency and often grievous outcomes of so-called street gang disputes require stricter policy from the Government. The bill enforces stricter penalties for those attempting to engage the underage in such activities.

"The law will be much stricter toward those who dare engage the underage in such criminal activities. The fight against criminal mentality will be even more effective, and we will succeed in avoiding the grave consequences often related to such disputes," Mamuka Bakhtadze stated.
