"Georgia-EU Association Council Meeting will be a very important format to further deepen our integration process, which has commenced and is successfully progressing" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at a regular press-briefing held prior to the Executive Government Meeting today.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, 5th Meeting of Georgia-EU Association Council will be held in Brussels on March 5, 2019. Georgia chairs the process this year.

"A number of topics of public interest will be discussed at the highest level of the Council. Special focus will be made on the Economic Policy of the Government, modernization of the education system and a wide-scale reform that we are carrying out in the education sector, along with the stimulation of free trade with EU" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, significant focus will be made at the Council Meeting on strengthening the Black Sea Transport Corridor.

"We see that certain faults exist in the transport and logistics in general, which hamper our ability to further increase our trade with EU and to find a greater use of the free trade regime with EU. Hence, a separate format will be given to the prospects of intensified trade and economic relations through the Black Sea within this context. Of course, we will speak about the reforms that will be implemented for a greater consolidation of democracy" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, occupation of the territories of Georgia by Russia will be one of the key topics of the meeting.

"At the same time, we celebrate 10th Anniversary of Eastern Partnership in summer. We have a significant action plan, which encompasses the announcement of new initiatives by the Government of Georgia to enable a closer approximation of Georgia with European structures and we intend to talk about these initiatives on March 5, 2019" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
