2019-02-26

"Government of Georgia is launching a co-financing program for the acquisition of agro-industrial machinery throughout the country with a budget of 4 MLN GEL" noted Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at a regular press-briefing held prior to the Executive Government Meeting today.

New program, which is implemented within the scope of a Common Agriculture Project, aims to increase access of farmers to the agro-industrial machinery.

"We have a significant deficit of fixed assets and machinery in the agro-industrial sector. Hence, we have developed a new program, which is aimed at the acquisition of essential hardware for agriculture through co-financing with our farmers. Last year stood out in terms of generating 1 BLN USD from export of agriculture produce from Georgia. It means that we have a very promising trend in the sector. Nevertheless, this is not enough. Majority of our population is engaged in agriculture and we thus plan to further increase our support programs towards this end" concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.
