"We strongly believe in Georgian business and entrepreneurship to be the main driving force for the development of economy in the country. Therefore, dialogue between the Government and businesses has a special importance" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia while delivering a speech at the presentation of a Performance Report by the Business Ombudsman of Georgia.

As noted by the Head of Government of Georgia, business ombudsman is an institution of critical importance within a strategy pursued by the Government.

Prime Minister of Georgia once again stressed the significance of the international credit ratings released by Fitch and noted that this success has been conditioned by fruitful cooperation of the public and private sectors in the country.

"Several days ago we received a very important and delightful information from the Fitch. It upgraded our credit rating and we are the only country in the region as of today that has achieved this result. Second half of the previous year has been particularly difficult for the region and therefore this success is even more important. Every initiative that is implemented by the authorities of the country will be agreed upon with the private sector. In my previous capacity of the Minister of Finance of Georgia, I did my best to make sure that most of our initiatives were sourced by the private sector, as I strongly believe that nobody knows better than you what needs to be improved in our legislative framework, what initiatives need to be implemented to make the economy of Georgia develop even faster" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, business ombudsman carries a significant role in the close communication between the public and private sectors.

"We should by all means feel the pulse of business round the clock and know what worries you to find solutions in the most efficient manner. At the same time, we need to design steps to further improve the business environment in the country. Second success achieved through our fruitful cooperation has been manifested by our 6th ranking in the Doing Business rating. It is a global success and I wish to thank everyone for this, especially representatives of the private sector who made it happen through our joint effort" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of Government of Georgia believes that significant work has been carried out last year together with a team of the Business Ombudsman and many issues have been solved in an efficient manner.

"I think that efficient mechanism of solutions needs to be further improved. We have success towards this end, but I have a keen interest in solving the business concerns even faster. It needs to be a very clear and transparent procedure, easily comprehended by all. Everyone should know how the Government manages to solve various issues of any business outlet in the most efficient manner. I wish to thank Irakli Lekvinadze and his team for the work they did last year. This success should be advanced to a new level this year and it needs to get reflected in our ratings. Ultimately, all our efforts need to grow into increased investments and creation of additional employment opportunities" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Irakli Lekvinadze, Business Ombudsman of Georgia presented the Performance Report for 2018 at Courtyard Marriott Hotel today. Event was attended by government officials, Members of Parliament (MPs) and business representatives.
