GEORGIA TO CONCLUDE AGREEMENT ON COOPERATION WITH EUROJUST Print Version

"Georgia will conclude an Agreement on Cooperation with EuroJust" stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at a regular press briefing held prior to the Executive Government Meeting today.

As noted by the Head of Government of Georgia, Agreement on Cooperation will be signed at the end of March and it aims to create a common space of EU standards and regulations in the area of justice.

"Sectoral cooperation between Georgia and European Union, along with its institutions within the process of our European integration is the most significant component of our strategy. I wish to let you know in this context that Georgia and EuroJust will conclude an Agreement on Cooperation with an aim of creating a common space of EU standards and regulations in the area of justice. Intensified mutual cooperation will advance the cooperation of Georgia with EU system of justice and create additional tools for a coordinated fight against various offences of the law, including trans-border and organized crimes. Cooperation between EuroJust and Georgia will deepen and become mutually beneficial, thus evidencing the ultimate improvement of justice in the country through investigation, prosecution and judiciary. All of that will lead to our compliance with standards that we all aspire" added the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, it means more competences, engagement in the process of European justice, coordinated fight against trans-national crimes, introduction of high standards of performance for the justice system of Georgia: judges, prosecutors, investigators and other units of the system, along with a further approximation of the Georgian system of justice with that of European.
