Prime Minister Visits Vocational College, Attends to Guria Tourism Development Strategy Print Version

Today, the Prime Minister of Georgia visited the Horizon Vocational School in Ozurgeti. Mamuka Bakhtadze was provided with detailed information about the professions offered by the school. The state-run Vocational School Horizon carries out 18 programs of vocational education in the areas of tourism, agriculture, services, and engineering, including culinary arts, tailoring, electricity courses, tour guide classes, IT, computer networks and systems, welding, tractor operation, automotive engineering, and others.

According to the Principal of the Vocational School, 951 students graduated in 2017-2018, with 80% of them already employed. The college's graduates are employed by hotels, restaurants, construction companies, and agrarian enterprises throughout Guria and Adjara, also the Guria Region Forestry Authority, and others.
The Head of Government spoke about the far-reaching educational reform, with the promotion of vocational education as one of its key directions. Mamuka Bakhtadze emphasized the importance of having vocational schools up and running throughout the country, so that youth may master the most demanded vocations, a guarantee of employment immediately after graduation.

The Prime Minister also familiarized himself with the Tourism Development Strategy in Guria. This document was developed under Participatory Principles for the Guria Tourism Development Strategy, the winning project of an EU-funded grant competition. The project enjoys 374,000 euro in grant financing from the European Union.
