"I pay reverence to the families who have raised the Heroes of Shindisi, 17 soldiers Georgian who sacrificed their lives to protect their homeland from the enemy," Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia told the press after the screening of the Shindisi feature film directed by Dito Tsintsadze.

The Head of Government thanked the film crew and emphasized the movie's premier on September 27, the day of Sokhumi's fall, as deeply symbolic.

"I believe that every citizen of Georgia must see and take in this film. I would like to thank every resident of the village of Shindisi, and everyone who helped them. Such heroic feats unite our nation. These must be the days of our unity, our common goals and, above all else, of commemorating those who have laid their lives for the homeland," Giorgi Gakharia stated.

The screening at the Amirani movie theater was attended by governmental representatives and the families of the Heroes of Shindisi.

Dito Tsintsadze's film, immortalizing the Heroes of the Battle of Shindisi, is based on a true story that took place near the village of Shindisi during the August 2008 War.
