Today, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia met with Maaike van Koldam, new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia.

At the outset of the meeting, the Prime Minister thanked the Kingdom of the Netherlands for calling out the Russian Federation's cyberattack on Georgia and for openly supporting Georgia.

The parties discussed key issues on the two countries' bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda.

The discussion revolved around the importance of cooperation for cementing respect for human rights, the rule of law, and democratic governance in Georgia.

Special emphasis was placed on the steps toward improving coordination mechanisms for protecting human rights. The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands expressed readiness to engage in the development of the Human Rights Strategy and Action Plan.

The meeting emphasized opportunities for greater use of the potential for expanding trade and economic ties, also the positive dynamic in tourism and maritime cooperation.

The discussion touched on top-level bilateral visits, underlining in this context the historic importance of the Georgian Prime Minister's visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands-last year's November marked the first ever bilateral-format visit of Georgia's Head of Government to the Kingdom of the Netherlands-and of the visit of senior officials from the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Tbilisi.

The meeting at the Administration of the Georgian Government was attended by Head of the Administration Natia Mezvrishvili.
