It is the duty of each citizen and the state to remember and stand by Archil Tatunashvili's family in every way, the Prime Minister of Georgia stated in the village of Tsilkani, where he visited the family of Archil Tatunashvili, a Georgian hero killed two years ago today.

The Head of Government praised Archil Tatunashvili's heroism and pledged that the state will continue supporting his family.

"Our support will carry on. And official positions are irrelevant here, because it is our civic duty. What Archil Tatunashvili did is the greatest example of heroism in our recent past. And commemorating those who have died a hero's death and sacrificed their liver for the homeland is what should unite us. This country belongs to all, and all must ensure against such tragic events happening in our lives. And only then will we be able to build bridges. Our ultimate goal is exactly what Archil Tatunashvili's heroism was meant to achieve-to unite our country. But that must be done through hard work and in peace, not through casualties, war, and calamities," the Prime Minister underlined.

After his meeting with Archil Tatunashvili's family, the Head of Government visited Archil Tatunashvili Garden Square that was inaugurated in the village of Tsilkani today.

Two years have passed since the passing of Archil Tatunashvili. On February 22, 2018, he was illegally detained in occupied Akhalgori, followed by his death in occupied Tskhinvali.

The de facto authorities of occupied Tskhinvali refused to release his body to his family for almost a month, during which relevant state agencies ad international partners engaged in intensive efforts toward Archil Tatunashvili's case.

Archil Tatunashvili's body was transported from occupied Tskhinvali on March 20 to receive a military funeral honors ceremony on March 24 at the Mukhatgverdi Brothers' Cemetery. Tatunashvili was awarded posthumously the Order of Honor.
