The Interagency Coordination Council, led by the Prime Minister of Georgia and established to address the issue of coronavirus, held its meeting today.

The meeting made a coordinated decision for the Health Ministry to carry out, as a preventive measure, additional disinfection measures in schools.

To allow enough time to disinfect all schools, spring break will start on March 2 instead of March 9, and will last until March 16.

In addition, the meeting of the Interagency Coordination Council also made a decision to expand disinfection work in public transport and kindergartens.

Instructions to that end have already been issued to relevant services, including the agencies subordinated to the Tbilisi City Hall.

The Health Ministry and relevant agencies continue their intensive coordinated activities. The Health Minister briefed the Interagency Coordination Council on the condition of those infected, and it was emphasized that 170 people are quarantined at this point.

The Interagency Coordination Council thanked the quarantined persons for exhibiting high social responsibility and following the Health Ministry's recommendations.

The meeting reiterated that there is no reason to panic, and that the Government of Georgia is actively cooperating with the World Health Organization and keeps the situation under control.

Today's meeting of the Interagency Coordination Council was attended by Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Healthcare and Social Affairs Dimitri Khundadze, the council's other members, and Deputy Tbilisi Mayor Sopo Khuntsaria.
