Zurab Noghaideli participated in the session of the joint intergovernmental commission on Georgian-Azeri economic cooperation.
At this meeting, issues related to the cooperation among the countries were discussed; among them: the question of gas supply of Georgia from Azerbaijan as well as the situation concerning development of the Karsi-Akhalkalaki project. After the session the minutes of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia were signed.
It was emphasized that starting from the next year Azerbaijan may become the main and even perhaps exclusive gas supplier to Georgia, which will enable Georgia to be no more dependant on Russia for energy resources. "From already next year, Azerbaijan will become the main gas supplier to Georgia. I am pleased by the results of today’s negotiations, in effect of which we’ve made one more step towards Georgia’s energy independence and diversification of supply of energy resources to Georgia", – Zurab Noghaideli noted.
Within the framework of the visit the prime minister of Georgia held meetings with Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Artur Rasizadeh, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
