Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met Anna Lyberg, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia upon her appointment today.

Meeting held within the Government Administration was of introductory nature and focused on the main aspects of cooperation between the two countries, along with a discussion of prospects for the intensification of current interaction in various areas.

Positive decision of the European Commission recommending a candidacy status to be granted by the European Council to Georgia was a topic under the focus. Irakli Garibashvili shared information with a newly-appointed Ambassador about the progress achieved by Georgia on its journey to the EU integration, as well as current reforms and highlighted the significance of the status be granted to the country.

The Prime Minister of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the diplomat for supporting the European path of Georgia and stressed the significance of a further support from the Kingdom of Sweden towards this process.

Irakli Garibashvili congratulated Anna Lyberg on the commencement of her new diplomatic mission in Georgia and wished her every success along the way.
