Meeting of June 15, 2007

On June 15, 2007 was held the Meeting of the Government of Georgia. The agenda consisted of 51 items.

Upon beginning of the Meeting the Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Noghaideli noted that the measures against the African hog cholera is effectively implemented in Georgia as a result of which the loss of pigs significantly decreased. Today our goal is to prevent the spread of infection to those regions and villages where the illness was not revealed. He asked the agriculture minister of Georgia Petre Tsiskarishvili to inform the members of the Government about the current situation in this direction.

The agriculture minister of Georgia Petre Tsiskarishvili informed the members of the Government that in the measures against the African hog cholera are implemented systematically in the country. Namely, are established special groups which duties are to reveal pig carcasses in the villages and adjacent territories, sanitary fills, abandoned buildings, rivers, water reservoirs and other places and their burial under the established rules, destruction of unattended pigs. Transportation of pork or pigs on the territory of the country is prohibited. At present the total efforts are directed to the prevention of the illness from penetration in those villages where it is not registered. This is of great importance for the further production of pig population in the country. The agriculture ministry of Georgia implements these measures together with the ministry of environment protection and natural resources, interior ministry and the local administrations. He also noted that in future in Georgia will be established four anti-epizootics laboratories.

The Prime Minister of Georgia thanked the agriculture minister of Georgia for the implemented activity and called for more active implementation of the set measures.
