Adviser of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia Lorik Marshania died tragically Print Version

On August 13, 2010, Adviser of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia, Coordinator of the Movement "For Peaceful Abkhazia", Doctor of Economic Sciences, Academician Lorik Marshania died tragically.

After the tragic events happened in Abkhazia Lorik Mashania worked as the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Abkhazia. Being an ethnic Abkhazian, he used to take active part in the Geneva Negotiations protecting the territorial integrity and interests of Georgia.

Mr. Lorik thought: "the God and the Fate decided to make us live together - on joint land, under joint sky, peacefully, in friendship, in love of relatives" and did all his best to restore such relations.

Mr. Lorik Marshania uttered the phrase: "I'm Abkhazian and I'm proud that my Georgia starts from Abkhazia".

Under the resolution of the Government of Georgia and supervision of Prime Minister Nika Gilauri the State Funeral Commission has been established with regard to the death of the prominent state and public officer, consisting of Temur Iakobashvili, Koba Subeliani, Giorgi Baramia, Davit Alavidze, Gia Gvazava, Svetlana Ketsba, Giorgi Anchabadze, Zurab Erkvania, Givi Anchabadze, Zurab Chikovani, Otar Zhordania.

The State will incur Lorik Marshania's funeral costs.
