Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2010 Year

Meeting of the Government as of May 25, 2010

Meeting of the Government as of May 25, 2010 The meeting of the Government of Georgia was held in Zugdidi on 25 May 2010. The agenda consisted of 22 items.

Before commencement of the Meeting, Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri talked about the current projects in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region.

Here's the speech of Nika Gilauri:

"We are maintaining the tradition and holding another field meeting (of the Government) in Zugdidi. The main issue of the day will be local problems, problems in the region, the projects being implemented in Samegrelo and Zemo Svaneti, as well as the problems which are not resolved yet and we are going to settle till the end of this year.

Huge funds are being spent on the investment projects in the Samegrelo region. More than 180 million lari will be spent just on the investment projects, and in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region 200 million lari will be expended.

Out of such funds the main part shall be spent on roads and road infrastructure. In tote, more than 74 million lari will be expended on local roads and highways. We have two main trends concerning the infrastructure: drinking water and energy. I mean gasification in energy which process has become intensive in the Samegrelo region. As per the drinking water, more than 28 million will be spent in this direction this year. In the region, even in Zugdidi, quite important infrastructural projects are to be implemented.

I would like to draw your attention on Anaklia projects. These are very important and good projects. The part of the projects has been already completed and the other part will be implemented till the end of this year.

First of all, there is a boulevard project to be completed this year; the bridge has been already finished. One more pedestrian bridge is being constructed, the work whereof commenced this year and will be finished next year. Furthermore, this region will have 2 new hotels. Both of the hotels will be in Anaklia and will be opened this year. This is very important for the development of tourism and further improvement of this region."
