Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2010 Year

Meeting of the Government as of June 18, 2010

On June 18, 2010 was held the session of the Georgian Cabinet. The agenda included 47 items.

Before the beginning of the session the Prime Minster of Georgia Nika Gilauri highlighted two issues.

Below is the address of the Prime Minister:

"I'd like to highlight two issues which are of top interest for the society. The first one is the draft law on IT development to be discussed today. I believe we will forward it to the Parliament the same day. This law will promote development of the information technologies. Like the free industrial zone created in Georgia where the companies operating for export are exempted from taxes to the maximum extent, we are going to declare the all Georgia as the tax-exempt zone for those companies which are working on provision of information technologies, i.e. IT development.

A company which now operates in any country can establish its subsidiary in Georgia, develop information technologies in Georgia and pay minimum taxes in this business. This is our goal and purpose. Today this draft law will be considered at the Cabinet session. I think this draft law will be subject to further elaboration and joint work with the MPs.
The second noteworthy document is the agreement to be considered at the today Cabinet session. This is the agreement between the Cabinet and representatives of private sector (the so called real estate brokers).

Unfortunately, privatization fails to go on with the pace we want. We have decided to involve the private sector in the process of privatization implementation. The Ministry of Economy will enter into the agreement with the private sector representatives, companies which will help us in the privatization process: to search for new customers, new buyers, new investors. This will revive the auction procedures and promote privatization to the maximum extent for now.

In connection with this, today the Ministry of Economy is holding the special signature ceremony. The Ministry will sign the agreement with some companies whereupon the companies will be entitled to represent the state in relations with the investors and to facilitate the privatization process."
