Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2010 Year

Meeting of the Government as of Juiy 9, 2010

Meeting of the Government as of Juiy 9, 2010 The meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on 9 July 2010. The agenda consisted of 74 items.

Prior to beginning of the meeting, the Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri talked about the new Tax Code:

"Before talking about the meeting-related issues, I want the audience to pay attention to the new Tax Code.

Several weeks ago we presented a draft initial version of the Tax Code to the society. We asked everyone to take part in building this Code. I conducted several presentations for business representatives, investors, representatives of different strata of the society. And some presentations were delivered by the Finance Minister.

The draft version of the Tax Code is presented on the Government's web-site and the web-site of the Finance Ministry. We asked everybody to make their comments. We received more than 500 remarks, suggestions and
presented a new view in terms of this Tax Code.

We studied all of them both in the Finance Ministry and the Chancellery. We studied the remarks and suggestions together with business representatives.

I mean to say that most of remarks were of one and the same content. 80% of the remarks are already envisaged in the Tax Code. And 20% are those which we cannot consider due to different reasons. The new, updated variant, the agreed variant, the variant agreed with the business, will be placed on the web-site today. Thus, we apply to the society and business representatives to review the agreed variant anew. We have approximately one week and the Tax Code will be forwarded to the second parliamentary hearing and we'll finally agree upon the final remarks. Thus, if you have any new remarks and suggestions, please advise us.

We all have a week to improve and finalize this Tax Code which will take effect from the next January 1. Although, certain articles of this new Tax Code will come into effect from this August 1".
