Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2010 Year

Meeting of the Government as of August 25, 2010

meeting of the Government as of August 25, 2010 The meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on August 25, 2010. The agenda consisted of 23 items.

Prior to beginning the meeting the Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri discussed the harvest problems in the region.
Here is the speech of the Prime Minister:

"I want to inform you that this year a very poor harvest was on certain agricultural products in the region, especially wheat.

I do not mean only the Caucasian Region, I mean the entire region, which covers such wheat suppliers as Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Russia.
The harvest in this region is reduced by circa 25% that ramped up prices. It was also caused by the fact that exports from certain countries are blocked and it is impossible to export wheat.

We do not have any problem in this direction, although, on the other hand, rise in prices was apparent in the region and Georgia. This will be one of the key issues of the Government's meeting; we'll discuss alternatives - what we can do in our economy during this period and how we can attract new markets.

We have certain wheat and maize projects and we'll impart them to the society in the nearest future".
