Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2010 Year

Meeting of the Government as of September 21, 2010

meeting of the Government as of September 21, 2010 The meeting of the Government of Georgia was held on September 21, 2010. The agenda consisted of 43 items.

Before the Meeting, Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri furnished the society with the information on several issues.
Here's the speech of the Prime Minister:

"Before discussion of the issues of the Government of Georgia, I'd like to provide the society with the information on several items concerning the first macroeconomic data.

SAKSTAT finished the economic research of the second quarter. According to the final result the quarter performance grew by 8,4%. This is quite a good result in the region and even throughout the world.

Finally, according to the results of six months the economic growth made 6,5%. This gross domestic product is one of the best rates of growth.

Such growth is caused by several reasons. One of them is that we had quite a negative result in the second quarter of the last year. And this made an influence on calculations.

It's worth noting that we have a considerable growth in the fields of export and tourism, as well as of foreign inflows. I mean the projects financed by the international financial institutions. Accordingly, the economic growth during the first six months was ensured by the said fields. Over again I declare that the growth made 6.5% and this is quite a good result.

Other information is that I'd like to furnish to the society concerns the education field. I'd like to declare that the Ministry of Education finished negotiations with Intel. As a result of the negotiations the parties will sign a contract. Under the agreement the Georgian population will be able to buy by installments a computer manufactured by Intel at 1 GEL a day.

This is not the first project as several companies implemented similar projects in Eastern Europe at the end of 90s which was a success.

From November 1 the Georgian population will be able to buy a computer on the 2-year installment plan at 1 GEL a day."
