Deputy Head of Government Administration Participates in High-Level Regional Meeting of Eastern Partnership-Western Balkans Print Version

Revaz Javelidze, Deputy Head of Government Administration participated in a high-level regional session of Eastern Partnership-Western Balkans held within the 7th Global Summit of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) today.

Revaz Javelidze highlighted the success achieved by Georgia in the development of public service delivery and innovative platforms, transparency of public administration and open governance principles introduced on the path of democratic development in recent years, particularly focusing on the transparency of budgeting and public engagement in this process. Revaz Javelidze showcased an analytical portal designed and developed by the Supreme Audit Institution of Georgia (SAI) branded as Budget Monitor to the session participants. It is aimed at making the budgeting transparent and at increasing the accessibility of information, consistent provision of updated information to citizens and public engagement in the oversight of public funds management.

Revaz Javelidze explained that analytical information is posted on the portal in relation with budgeting, while offering remote access to open data through a mutual communication with citizens in the conditions of the global pandemic.

The Deputy Head of Government Administration also spoke about the current process of the new Action Plan of OGP in development.

Representatives of countries participating in the meeting spoke about the achievements of their nations within the scope of the open government partnership in the past ten years and focused attention on the innovative reforms of the Action Plan for the following years.

Participants of the regional session included high-ranking political figures from Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine and Armenia, as well as officials of the European Commission, Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum and other international organisations and academic circles.

Seoul, capital of the Republic of South Korea is hosting the Global OGP Summit in its 10th anniversary year. It is having a hybrid format due to the pandemic. Annual OGP Global Summit priorities are aimed at boosting the civil space and society, fight against corruption and facilitated support of inclusive digital innovation.
